As a nutrition writer, I wrote many articles on health and nutrition. But now i am here writing my own experience with thyroid.
My thyroid journey (hypothyroidism) started in my early pregnancy. It was the time running through huge stress. Our Doctor mentioned the reason for the thyroid strike as stress and hormonal imbalance. Then, immediately started the medication (Thyronom 50 mcg). Soon after my delivery (premature delivery), my thyroid level came to normal. Stopped medicine and everything was going well, But some kind of stress and depression carried through. Thereafter a few months the thyroid (TSH level) raised back. This time I experienced many side effects like weight gain, hair loss, digestion issues, goiter (Enlargement of the thyroid gland in the neck), heart palpitations, mood swings, weakness, sleep disturbance, etc. Even after having the thyroid medicine for a few months, no change is noticed and the effects didn’t reduce. This is the time period in between my nutrition course, here our Nutritionist, Sushma Jaiswal madam advised a suitable diet plan and given some related instructions. And this natural treatment, i.e. A proper diet, required food supplements and physical workout for weight management helped to reverse my thyroid in just a span of three months. And this therapy assisted me in complete health betterment as well.
Even i did much research for myself about thyroid problems, i.e., do's and don't s, good and bad foods for thyroid problems, weight management (BMI) and body detoxification. All these things helped me out well.
My advice to all thyroid patients is, don’t get panic, thyroid problem is just a disorder mainly caused due to hormonal imbalance, stress, over medications, nutrient deficiencies or overweight. Don’t get settle down just with the medications, along with that taking a proper diet and weight control can help to cure thyroid permanently. Then you can stop the medicine gradually.

> Iodine, selenium and zinc are important nutrients for thyroid problems.
> Sendha namak, black salt, himalayan pink salt, rock salt are good salts are good sources of Iodine.
> Ashwagandha, methi seeds, cranberries, strawberries, avocado, leafy vegetables, eggs, legumes, dairy products, yogurt are known as superfoods for thyroid treatments.
> Foods like Peanuts, millets, vegetables like sweet potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli should be avoided.
> Minimize the usage of refined products and processed foods.
